Spring's Awakening is a tragi-comedy of teenage sex. Its fourteen-year-old heroine, Wendla, is killed by abortion pills. The young Moritz, terrorized by the world around him, and especially by his teachers, shoots himself. The ending seems likely to be the suicide of Moritz's friend, Melchior, but in a confrontation with a mysterious stranger (the famous Masked Man) he finally manages to shed his illusions and face the consequences.

In some ways I believe the above description does not do the play justice at all. It appears above to be very "hahah shit happens". Not the case. This is a tragic tale, and should not be taken seriously. The play seems to have a really nice feel to it and seems to put life into perspective. Everyone should read this, not only because it is great, but to realise how lucky we are to be living in the age we do. Don't get me wrong, I would have loved to live back then, but medicine and knowldge and understanding has come so far.
Recently been turned into a broadway hit, like everyother great story in the world. Fantastic musical, does not belong on broadway however. Music is great, fits with the play well.
